Never eat alone

Recently I read a book named “Never eat alone”.

This is a book talked about how to develop a long-term relationship with other people. In Chinese, we describe a relationship with other as “vein”. The relationship is just like a network, and you can also benefit from it. But I had talked to one of my college classmate; she looked down on people who are eager to develop this “vein”. It seems that you want to have relationship with them because you may need their help some day. I was convinced at that time. But I have different ideas after I read this book.

Human beings are social animals. It’s impossible for us to live alone. And the author told us, if you want a good relationship network, the first thing you should do is being open and helping others. We may need other’s help, but on the other hand, we also help them. You know people not for “using” them, but for learning from them.

And if you wish to be a person who has good relations with others, you should do a lot of homework. For example, you should contact your friend regularly, or at least on some important holidays. You should search the background of the person who you want to make friend with, and prepare some topics to chat. You should learn how to chat with others (which is my weakest part…), and be an interesting person that other people will want to talk to you.

It is not an easy thing. I should work harder.
